Running a city is a high-stakes operation. Every decision impacts thousands of residents, and every meeting, event, and briefing plays a role in shaping policy and progress. At the center of it all is the Mayor’s office—a function that demands seamless coordination, real-time access to critical information, and the ability to cut through administrative chaos to drive toward goals.
The Challenge
For years, government offices have relied on outdated systems—schedules built in Word documents, briefings compiled in binders, and relationship management left to memory. These inefficiencies create bottlenecks, slow decision-making, and risk losing institutional knowledge with every transition.
For Mayor of Denver Mike Johnston, the challenge was clear: How do we use AI to make government more efficient and effective?
The Solution
By adopting Chief AI, Mayor Johnston’s office is transforming their workflow, replacing scattered documents and manual processes with a centralized, intelligent command center.
Here’s how Chief AI is making an impact:
- Streamlined Scheduling: Instead of juggling requests from multiple sources and chasing approvals, Chief AI helps the team coordinate meetings and events seamlessly. Requests flow in from a scheduling form and emails to a single dashboard, where the team can communicate directly in Chief AI—centralizing decisions and keeping everything on track.
- Automated Briefings: No more last-minute scrambling or hours spent compiling the daily briefing book. Chief AI organizes and automatically exports up-to-date briefings, ensuring the Mayor is always prepared.
- Relationship Management: From key stakeholders to community leaders, Chief AI helps track interactions and context, strengthening relationships and ensuring no follow-up falls through the cracks.
- Institutional Knowledge: Chief AI captures key insights, decisions, and historical data—so the Mayor and his team can ask questions about past events, relationships, speeches, talking points, time allocation, and more. Transitions and staff changes no longer mean losing critical information.
Our Partnership
Mayor Johnston recognizes the impact AI can have to support a thriving city, and he has become one of the nation’s leaders in bringing innovation to government. In September 2024, he organized the inaugural DenAI Summit, where we presented Chief AI.
We’ve since worked hand-in-hand with the Mayor and his team—his Chief of Staff, Director of Scheduling, Special Assistant, and Senior Advisors—to deliver a product that serves their needs. And we are continuing to collaborate on the next set of features.
Security and Compliance
We worked closely with the City of Denver’s Technology Services team to ensure our product is secure and compliant with government requirements. The process included a Vendor Risk Assessment, providing Chief AI an opportunity to align with the City on all corporate and production security policies. For example, Chief AI never trains third-party AI models on customer data. Read about security here.
The Impact
With Chief AI, Mayor Johnston and his team are dramatically reducing administrative overhead, allowing them to focus on what really matters—leading effectively, responding to community needs, and making informed decisions.
We are actively onboarding more customers. If you want to bring Chief AI to your office, reach out!
